GI BILL:

Apply for Benefits Online through the VA

If you don't have the capability to print out the form or apply online, you can call 1-888-GI BILL-1 (1-888-442-4551) to have a form mailed to you.

You may also receive an application form at the school or training establishment you wish to attend. The VA Certifying official at the school (usually located in the Registrar's or Financial Aid office) should have the forms available, can assist you in filling them out, and will submit them to VA.

Troops to Teachers provides money to honorably discharged military personnel who wish to pursue a career in teaching.

Trocaire Colleg e will wave any tuition expenses not covered by the federal GI Bill or New York’s Veteran’s Tuition Award for Erie County’s own heroes returning home from the war zones in Iraq and Afghanistan.

At Medaille College, "military friendly" means partnering with veterans, military personnel and their families to make academic success a reality. They are proud to offer two scholarship opportunities to veterans.

The Veteran Education Tuition Scholarship (VETS)

In conjunction with recent changes to the G.I. Bill, Medaille College is now offering up to $10,000 for veterans to attend Medaille College. You deserve to be rewarded for your service, and Medaille is proud to educate leaders such as yourself who have sacrificed so much for your country and Western New York. The Yellow Ribbon Scholarship

Medaille College has voluntarily entered into an agreement with the Veterans Administration (VA) to fund tuition expenses for veterans that exceed the highest public in-state undergraduate tuition rate. Medaille will contribute up to 50% of these expenses and VA will match 50%. This will allow the qualifying veteran to attend Medaille College without incurring expenses related to tuition or fees.

Patriot Express Loan Loans of up to $150,000 at interest rates of 1.55% above Treasury are available to honorably discharged veterans and members of the Guard and Reserve. This new money comes from the New York State Common Retirement Fund and participating banks of the New York Business Development Corporation. This program is in addition to the Patriot Express Loan Program announced last month by the Small Business Development Center. The Patriot Express Loan program has already made 20 loans; the largest was $350,000.
